Hans Christian Anderson: Once Upon a Fairy Tale
At A Work in Progress, we believe that students of all ages should be treated to the same level of quality theatre. Our Junior Productions include sets, costumes, lighting, and a real stage! All while making sure each student feels comfortable, confident, and encouraged in their individual role. Through acting exercises, theatre games, improvisation, and more, students ages 8-12 learn how to study a script, create a character, prepare for a show, and work as a team–culminating in an entertaining performance. It’s an unforgettable experience for them! Click here to see pictures and video from past Junior Productions, and read what other parents and students have had to say!
This year, we will be journeying with Hans Christian Anderson as he creates enchanted worlds for readers of all ages to explore. We will be diving into the following stories and bringing them to life like only AWIP can do!
- The Princess and the Pea
- The Little Mermaid
- The Emperor’s New Clothes
- The Ugly Duckling
- The Snow Queen
- And More!
Filled with adventure + heroism, with characters rich and complex, this production is not for “little kids” but rather will challenge our 7-12 year olds as they bring these characters to life.
To perform as an actor, you will need to register for one of the Junior Production Acting classes (Tuesday or Thursday, they are both the same class but will be different acts in the show). Scroll down for more information about those classes.
These classes, below, are also part of the Junior Production and provide an opportunity to be in the performance on a less intense scale. Click on the links to learn more:
