The first half of AWIP Year Five has been filled with cheer, as students pursued everything from art (in our new, and immediately popular, Picassos Classes), to Media (film and photography), to writing. We offered a Behind-the-Scenes class where students helped build and design sets for our MainStage production of “White Christmas,” which has been hailed as our most spectacular production yet (if you missed it, click here for info on our high-quality DVDs)! Hearts were warmed when the Tolman Junior ROTC joined our cast on stage, and the audience was mesmerized by the snow falling overhead in the finale. We honored the “Singin’ in the Rain” cast from our first production, while welcoming new faces to our acclaimed performing arts troupe, Salt+Light. Our hallways are bursting with energy on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as students are delighted to take classes each week, being inspired and challenged as artists. We spare no expense in quality and hire the best instructors around!
Yet behind the curtain of the AWIP Stage, there’s more being developed for future families and students who will grace our hallways. Scholarship funds are being collected, plans are being made for new locations, work is being laid out for us to continue to bless the city of Pawtucket (where our productions are mounted), and outreaches are underway to local food banks, churches, nursing homes, public schools, and community organizations.
An elementary school principal recently said he spends a fortune bringing the arts to his school, and couldn’t believe our community-outreach performances are free. Help us keep it up! A gift of any amount helps so much, but any gift of $50 or more will receive a free ticket to our Junior Production in April! Click here to donate!
Thank you, and Happy New Year! We hope to see you at one of our classes, workshops, or productions this spring – check out all of our offerings here!
